Funeral services for Rev. Charles Jarrell, Jr., 79, of Piedmont will be Saturday at 2 pm at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Tommy McCoy, the Rev. John Adams and the Rev. Donnie Rader officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to services. Rev. Jarrell went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Survivors include three children, Marcia Rader (Donnie) of Evergreen, Wayland Jarrell (Dewana) of Muscle Shoals and Donna Adams (John) of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Goss of Piedmont. Pallbearers will be Seth Jarrell, Nathan Jarrell, Joseph Jarrell, Jared Rader, Caleb Rader, Mickey Hurst, Jr. and Jeremy Goss.
Rev. Jarrell was a Calhoun County native. He was a graduate of Piedmont High School and attended Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee and Gadsden State College.
He was a U.S.Army veteran and served as a Church of God pastor for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Jarrell; and his parents, Charles and Lottie Jarrell.
