03-13-2010 - WRIGHT MEMORIAL MORTUARY - MRS. GEORGIA MAE WILLIAMS

Mrs. Georgia Mae Williams, age 80 of 4850 Cedar St., Cedar Bluff, AL., was born September 25, 1919, in Gaylesville, AL., to Samuel and Lottie Crawford Turner. Mrs. Williams passed away Wednesday on March 3, 2010, when she peacefully passed away at Cherokee County Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Georgia Mae (aka) `mama Georgia` as she was so fondly known as in the community, started her journey with Christ at an early age, as a member of Flinthill Baptist Church in Gaylesville. Upon relocating to Cedar Bluff, she became a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was a faithful sister in the Women`s Mission, where she served as past president and treasure. She began the kitchen ministry at the church and was its leader for over 30 years. Mama Georgia Mae loved the Cedar Bluff community, and served it in the way closest to her heart, by preparing food and feeding those in need, because she was always a willing servant in and out of the Lord`s house. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband(s); three children; five brothers; six sisters; and three grandchildren. She was the last of her siblings to peacefully go home to be with God. Survivors include, three sons, Willie L. (Darlene) Daniels, of Waukegan, IL, Mayo (Mattie) Williams and Rickey (Barbara) Williams both of Cedar Bluff, AL, brother-in-law, Luther Taylor, of Landover hills, MD; daughter-in-laws, Betty Daniels, of Chattanooga, TN, Clara Daniels, of Anniston, AL; Twenty grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; fifty-four great-great grandchildren; one very special niece, D.L. Mayberry, of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 P.M. (CST) at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Cedar Bluff, AL. with Rev. Cedric Williams, presiding and Rev. A.O. Hannha officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. (CST) until the funeral hour. Interment and Committal service will follow in Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens, Gaylesville, AL. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 at the residence of Mayo and Mattie Williams, 4850 Cedar St., Cedar Bluff, AL. Wright Memorial Mortuary, Inc., Rome, GA., has charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Georgia Mae Williams.
