Mr. Ronnie B. Bishop, age 60, of Summerville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Bishop was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on August 3, 1947, son of the late Youl Buford Bishop and Gladys Aretta Hardin Bishop. He was retired from Mohawk as a Quality Control Manager, with over 41 years of service. Mr. Bishop was an avid drag racing fan and was a weekend warrior at the drag strip.
Mr. Bishop is survived by a son, Zack Bishop of Summerville; daughter, Tiffany Bishop Large of Birmingham; two sisters, Cathy Gray of Gadsden and Shelia Smith of Ohatchee, AL; and two grandchildren, Connor Large and Braylin Bishop, and all his drag racing family.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bishop will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 12:00 Noon in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Matt Moon, Billy Cook, Gunter Moon, and Jimmy Scruggs.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Booney Cunningham, Melvin Croft, and Joel Gray.
Mr. Bishop will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.
