05-13-2008 - PERRY FUNERAL HOME - MR. CLYDE JOHNSON JR.

Mr. Clyde Johnson, Jr. age 78, of Leesburg, passed away Saturday May 10th at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, with Revs. Danny Flora and Mike Dover, officiating. Military Graveside rites, will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to Slackland Baptist Church or the family will accept flowers.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruth Igou Johnson, sons, Clyde LeDon (Joyce) Johnson, Leesburg, David Dwaine (Darlene) Johnson, Ft. Payne, daughter, Sandra (Ronny) Jones, Leesburg, grandchildren, Ben (Teresa) Johnson, Randall (Kelli) Davis, Russell ( Jason) Payne, Perry (Angie) Fletcher, Brent (Jeanney) Jones, and Lorie Benefield. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Copeland, Aulcie Mae Battles, Peggy LeCroy and Juby McNabb.

Mr. Johnson, was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Clyde Sr. and Bell Sparks Johnson. He was a member and deacon of Slackland Baptist Church, He is retired from the United States Army and a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the military Mr. Johnson and his wife Ruth were the owners of Johnsons Upholstery in North Gadsden for 15 years.

Pallbearers will be provided by Military Honor Guard.

Honorary Pallbearers, will be deacons and members of Slackland Baptist Church.
