The arrest of a councilman from a nearby town Monday was the cause of delays for the start of the Ider Mule Day parade.
Ider Police Chief Brian Keck said Tony Goolesby, of Sylvania, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after he allegedly initiated an incident at the start of the parade.
Keck said Ider Capt. Michael Little approached Goolesby and repeatedly asked Goolesby to leave the area. He said Goolesby then poked Little in the chest with his finger, and Little arrested Goolesby.
Keck said Little was the escorting officer at the parades start, and the incident caused the parade to be delayed about 10-15 minutes to allow for Goolesby to be taken to Ider Municipal Jail.
Keck said Goolesby was released on bond a couple of hours after his arrest. He said Goolesbys case would appear before a municipal judge on Oct. 14.
