ROME MAN ARRESTED AT ROADBLOCK

A Rome man was arrested on several felony warrants Sunday after he drove up to a roadblock with an open beer in hand.
According to Rome Police Department and Floyd County Jail records:
Christopher Shane Vasser, of 46 Pierce North Road, was charged with the following felonies: theft by receiving stolen property, false swearing, theft by deception, title cancellation forgery and forgery in the first degree. He was also charged with open container, giving a false name to police and obstruction of law enforcement.
Vasser drove up to a Rome police roadblock with an open can. When police asked for identification, he gave a false name. Later, his real name and the multiple felony warrants associated with it were discovered.
According to warrants, Vasser took possession of a 1968 Jeep truck that did not belong to him, signed a scrap title and sold the vehicle as junk. The vehicle was destroyed.
Vasser remained in jail Sunday night.
