SENATOR SHELBY ANNOUNCES NEW GRANT

Senator Richard Shelby - ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on
Commerce, Justice & Science - has announced, that the Department of Justice, will award
$295,777 to the Alabama Department of Safety - for use in continuing its `Internet Crimes
Against Children Task Force`.
The Task Force provides a response to such incidents through conducting investigations,
serving as a forensic resource, and prosecuting cases at the local, state and federal levels.
The Senator said sexual predators worldwide are using the internet & other technologies
to anonymously prey upon children - and it is critical that law enforcement officials, have
all of the necessary resources in order to protect children from those types of individuals.
The funding, which Senator Shelby was instrumental in obtaining will help to continue the
operations of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force composed of federal, state
and local law enforcement agencies, working together to prevent, and prosecute - internet
crimes against children.
Senator Shelby is Co-chair and Co-founder of the Senate Caucus on Missing, Exploited,
& Runaway Children, and founder of the Financial Coalition to Fight Child Pornography.
