Out-of-work Alabama residents whose unemployment benefits may have run out - can file
for an extension.
Alabama Department of Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees made the announcement
- in light of Congress recently passing a bill to re-instate those unemployment compensation
benefit extensions.
Surtees says claims would be paid retroactive to June 5th.
State officials estimate some 37,000 Alabama residents may be eligible for an extension.
