Two Gadsden residents have been placed under arrest - and are currently facing charges of Assault, and Resisting Arrest.

Investigator Shane Hartley of the Etowah County Sheriff`s Office said 50 year old Benjamin Hamby has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Assault, which is a felony - and also with one count of Resisting Arrest, which is a misdemeanor; meanwhile 43 year old Faith Williams Hamby has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Assault, one count of Resisting Arrest and also misdemeanor Public Lewdness.

The two were apprehended on Overlook Drive in Gadsden - after resisting arrest, and assaulting an off-duty deputy.

Deputy Ron Jones was inside of a local gas station, when he was approached by Faith Hamby, who was indecently exposing herself.

After identifying himself as a sheriff’s deputy he attempted to place her under arrest, a scuffle ensued which spilled out into the parking lot, where Benjamin Hamby became involved, physically assaulting Jones - the Hamby’s then fled the scene.

Deputy Jones was able to report the license plate number on their vehicle which helped to locate and apprehend both subjects.

The Hamby’s are currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center.
