The former Pleasant Hill Road Bridge which is believed to be the oldest bridge in Etowah County may soon have a new home in Attalla, if the Etowah County Historical Society can come up with the funds to move it.

The bridge was replaced by the Etowah County Commission after it became too expensive to rehabilitate. It was cut in half and now sits in two 80 foot spans on the proposed Black Creek Trail which begins near Noccalula Falls.

Etowah County Historical Society President Danny Crownover said that society members are seeking to preserve the bridge also known as the Haunted Bridge by working with the City Of Attalla.

If the money can be found to move it the Attalla City Council has agreed to use the bridge at Junction Park at the corner of Cleveland and Fifth Ave.

Plans are to place a museum, railroad cars, and other transportation items at the location.

The Historical Society is raising $5,000 to relocate the bridge to Attalla as well as additional funds to make repairs and paint it.
