Weis Radio News Spoke to Cherokee County Engineer Cory Chambers who said that weather has slowed down progress on the progress of the County Road 26 project.

That portion of road near County Road 54 approximately one mile east of Highway 411 on 26 will remain closed for at least two more days depending on the weather.

Chambers said that crews are working day and night to hurry the project along, during work that area will be open to local traffic only, all other traffic should detour around onto County Road 54 which connects between 26 and Highway 411.

The Etowah Commission is planning to close a portion of Coates Bend Road for repairs for parts of two days next week.

Assistant County Engineer Robert Nail said that weather permitting the section of Coates Bend Road between Turkey Town Road and Coates Bend Circle will be closed from 8am Tuesday thru 4pm Wednesday.

Nail said that the closing is necessary to replace a culvert. Vehicles coming from the north and Turkey Town Road will need to detour to Appalachian Highway and then to Coates Bend Road.

Vehicles coming from the south will need to use Appalachian Highway and then to Turkey Town Road.

Barricades will be placed indicating the area of closure.
