DENISE COOEY TO SERVE AS TEMPORARY EMA DIRECTOR IN

Gadsden Mayor Sherman Guyton has announced that Gadsden-Etowah County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Officer Denise Cooey temporarily will serve as the agency`s acting director. The agency`s director, Deborah Gaither, recently announced her resignation and will begin her duties as the director of the Talladega County EMA March 8. However, Gaither and another staff member are absent because of illness in their families. Cooey has been employed with the city of Gadsden since 1985 and has worked with EMA for six years. She is trained and experienced as an emergency responder and duty officer and also has performed duties relating to grant administration and financial operations for the agency.
