JOINT INVESTIGATION NETS GUNS, DRUGS

A joint investigation between the DeKalb and Jackson county sheriffs department ended Thursday in the confiscation of of drugs and guns in Section.

Jerry Conald Moore, 56, of Section is charged with first-degree drug manufacturing and unlawful possession of marijuana in relation to the investigation.

DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris said officers with his department, the Jackson County Sheriffs Department, Section Police Department, DeKalb County Drug Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms carried out a search of Moores home on County Road 43 in Section on Thursday, with the help of drug-sniffing dogs.

Harris said officers seized 6 pounds of marijuana, a large meth lab, about 60 guns, a vehicle and $5,000.

Jackson County Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said federal charges against Moore are expected, related to Moores possession of automatic weapons. He also said additional arrests are expected at a later date.

Moore remained in the Jackson County Jail Friday with no bond set.
