An individual who vandalized the Centre Fire Department on Monday night, is now in custody.
The incident took place shortly before the department was called to a report of a structure fire on County Road 24, just after 9:00pm.
According to Fire Chief Kevin Ware, the man, identified as 22 year old David Edward Harris from Rossville, Georgia managed to gain entry into the building by prying open a back door.
Once inside he reportedly damaged a microwave oven, and took several knives from the kitchen area, scrapping the walls with them, even sticking some of the knives into the walls. Harris then called 9-1-1 himself, and was arrested moments later. The damage was estimated at approximately $350.
Harris was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, two counts of Breaking and Entering and Public Intoxication.
