BODY OF DROWNING VICTIM RECOVERED IN GEORGIA

Shortly before 6:00pm Saturday, Chattooga County 9-1-1 dispatched officers to an area of the Chattooga River, located off Hankins Drive in Summerville regarding a possible drowning.
Sheriff Ralph Kellett stated that witnesses reported that 17 year old Tony DeWayne Eller, was swimming in the river with several friends, when he went under and didnt come back up.
The Chattooga County Sheriffs Office, the Summerville Police and Fire Departments, Chattooga County Rescue and Chattooga County EMS all responded to the scene.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources was called in to assist, and shortly after their arrival they recovered the body of the victim in an area near where he was last seen.
According to Sheriff Kellett, the body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, although no foul play is suspected.
