Its an issue which has been on the minds of people for quite awhile, and work should begin soon on the four-laning of Highway 411 from Gadsden to Turkeytown, now that the contract has officially been awarded.
According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, the contract has been awarded to Raycon, Inc. of Tuscaloosa, which submitted a bid of $16.6 million on the seven and three-quarter mile project.
Officials say plans to move forward should be put in place within the month, and that the actual work could take possibly two to three years to complete, with a schedule of 385 working days.
