A convicted sex offender who was released on bond earlier this week, is now back in custody.
61 year old Donald Edward Holcomb of Boaz, who is accused of attempting to abduct an eleven year old girl, was picked up on Thursday after a motion was filed to have his bond revoked.
He was charged last Friday, with Enticing a Child into a Vehicle for Illegal or Immoral Purposes, which is a Class C felony. He was arrested after allegedly trying to restrain an eleven year old girl in the parking lot of the West End Grocery in Walnut Grove. The child told authorities she managed to struggle loose and the man then left the area.
Holcomb was released Monday on a $2,500 bond, and on Tuesday an Etowah County District Judge ordered that he be placed under House Arrest and made to wear an ankle bracelet outfitted with GPS monitoring.
Sheriff Todd Entrekin said the GPS monitoring system showed that he left the designated area where he was allowed to be, and was staying at a house where a young child also lived.
He was apparently out of range of the monitoring system but was still actually on the property where he was authorized to stay. The child was a relative, however, convicted sex offenders are not allowed to stay in areas where children are present, under any circumstances.
Holcomb was convicted in Marshall County of 2nd Degree Rape involving a 14 year old girl in 1994.
