The man who was recently arrested for the attempted abduction of an eleven year old girl has been ordered by an Etowah County Judge to be outfitted with an ankle bracelet with GPS monitoring, while remaining under House Arrest.

Convicted sex offender, 61 year old Donald Edward Holcomb, a resident of the Aurora community near Boaz, was released on Monday of this week on $2,500 Bond. Holcomb was charged with Enticing a Child into a Vehicle for Illegal or Immoral Purposes, which is a Class C Felony.

A tip led to his arrest after he allegedly attempted to restrain an eleven year old girl in the parking lot of the West End Grocery in Walnut Grove.

The girl told authorities that she struggled with the man and managed to pull away from his grasp, at which point he left the area.

Holcomb was convicted of 2nd Degree Rape, involving a 14 year old girl in Marshall County, in 1994.

The monitoring system, which cannot be removed is connected to a phone line and will sound an alert if that person travels more than 500 feet of the assigned phone line.

Holcomb will be monitored by the Etowah Court Referral System pending trial.
