MYSTERIOUS DEATH NOW DEEMED HOMICIDE

Cherokee County authorities are now officially treating the death of the man whose body was recently found in Weiss Lake, as a Homicide case.
The body of the yet-to-be identified man was discovered early Thursday morning, April 24th near the State Docks on Highway 9 between Centre and Cedar Bluff.
The Cherokee County Sheriffs Department, Cedar Bluff Police, and Centre Police were the first to arrive on the scene, followed by the Alabama Marine Police, Coroner Don Rogers and District Attorney Mike ODell.
The ABI and Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences were also called in.
Preliminary autopsy results reportedly indicated that the man, thought to be Hispanic and approximately 50 years of age, had been killed, however an actual cause of death has not yet been determined.
Authorities continue to follow up on several leads in that case.
