A Collinsville man who was reported missing earlier in the week, has been found by the FBI, in Opelika.
According to Dekalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris, Abraham Beltren, who is described as mentally challenged was found at Durangos Restaurant at around 1:30pm Wednesday.
Family members told Investigators that Beltren left on foot, and had only been in DeKalb County for around a month and didnt know the area very well.
Sheriff Harris said Beltrans family also informed them that he had talked about visiting a relative in Waycross, Georgia however authorities werent sure exactly where he was trying to go and were concerned, especially in light of his mental condition.
A search was initiated involving the help of the FBI, Alabama State Troopers and Etowah County Deputies. On Tuesday afternoon a helicopter was brought in to assist in the search, and troopers used an infrared device and a tracking dog to search the woods near the missing mans home.
Harris didnt release any details concerning the discovery of Beltren at the restaurant, saying only that authorities werent sure at this time, exactly how he arrived in Opelika, but that everyone was relieved and thankful that he was found unharmed.
