ARREST MADE IN GOSSETT STREET FIRES

According to information from the Centre Fire Department an arrest has been made in the string of arson fires which have occurred on Gossett Street in Centre.
Billy Joe Hicks age 56 of Centre, is currently being held without bond in the Cherokee County Detention Center charged with two counts of Arson 2nd Degree in connection with two fires that occurred at 226 Gossett Street.
The most recent was early Tuesday morning and the other occurring early Saturday morning.
Both Fires were investigated by the homeowner, the Centre Fire Department, Centre Police Department, Alabama State Fire Marshals, Cherokee County District Attorneys Office, and the Dekalb County K-9 Unit.
Hicks lived next door to the residence at 230 Gossett Street. Further charges are expected to be forthcoming.
