PIEDMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT NOW FULL STRENGTH

The Piedmont Police department is now full strength for the first time in 10 years. Chief Tidwell told the Mayor and City Council during the Monday night City Council meeting. He said a couple of officers are finishing 12 weeks of schooling and will be on the road soon and the last two hired will be on the job shortly but will have to complete their 12 week training period at Jacksonville. In other action, Mayor Fagan issued a proclamation that April will be recognized as Housing Authority Commissioners Month for the contributions they make to the City. The Council re-appointed Mary Harbour to the Library Board and appointed Brenda Spears to a vacancy on the Board. The bills in the amount of $321,339.19 were approved for payment. City Clerk Bill Fann told the Council the Citys Industrial recruiting video and Tourism Video will be completed. Mayor Fagan informed the Council the baseball and softball season would start on April 5th with ceremonies beginning at 9 a.m.
