The President has issued a major disaster declaration for six more Georgia counties, including Floyd, in response to the areas recent tornadoes. The declaration makes federal funding available to residents. This list also includes Bartow, Polk, Burke, DeKalb, and Jefferson counties. The aid can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration also will be available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
