Weiss Lake   The Alabama State Legislature incorporated Cherokee County, Alabama on January 9, 1836 with Centre being established as the county seat in 1884. We now have a population of over 23,000. And we welcome thousands of visitors to the area each year.

One of north Alabama's top tourist attractions, Weiss Lake is renowned as the "Crappie Capital of the World." Great fishing, breathtaking natural beauty, and small town charm are what keep our thousands of visitors coming back year after year!

Fishing, hunting, boating, camping. The Weiss Lake area has it all. And we are not far from the larger cities of Gadsden, Birmingham, and Atlanta.
